Performing Arts

The Performing Arts Department in Chesterfield County Public Schools is committed to a comprehensive curriculum in all disciplines including music, dance and theater. The Performing Arts program serves as a vehicle to exalt the human spirit, enhance life and foster critical thinking skills. Because of the capability of music, dance and theater to transcend and yet to interrelate all aspects of the human experience, the performing arts possess qualities needed to educate the whole child. By participating in the performing arts, students cultivate skills that are quintessential to success in the 21st century.

Recording artist/actress Jennifer Holliday visits Meadowbrook High School to speak to chorus and theatre students about careers in entertainment.

STEM

Science, technology, engineering and math were the focus of Chesterfield’s first STEM Fair, which took place at the Science Museum of Virginia. Elementary, middle and high school students competed in STEM Olympics and minute-to-win-it events that required teamwork, problem solving and high-level thinking. Fine Art
