2015-16 calendar is set for Chesterfield schools

The Chesterfield County School Board on Dec. 9 approved the calendar for the 2015-16 school year. The calendar accompanies this news release and is also available online at mychesterfieldschools.com/about/calendars. Here are highlights:

  •  Classes begin Sept. 8, the first Tuesday after Labor Day.
  • Classes end June 17 for students.
  • There are 180 student days.
  • Schools and school offices will be closed Nov. 25-27 for Thanksgiving, Jan. 18 
for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Feb. 15 for Presidents Day and May 30 for Memorial Day.
  • Winter break is Dec. 21-Jan. 1.
  • Spring break is March 28-April 1.
  • Nov. 2 is set aside for parent-teacher conferences.
  • Nov. 3 is a student holiday and teacher workday/professional development day.
  • Feb. 1 is a student holiday and teacher workday.
  • To provide planning and professional development time for teachers, the calendar includes seven early-release days for students: Sept. 30, Oct. 28, Jan. 27, Feb. 24, April 15 and June 16-17.
