Beginning Teacher Awards honor new educators

Chesterfield County Public Schools recently recognized outstanding first-year teachers with Beginning Teacher Awards. Here are the 2016 winners and finalists:

  • Michael Miller, who teaches fifth grade at Swift Creek Elementary, is the Elementary School Beginning Teacher of the Year. Finalists were Jesse Pearman-Hurt of Crestwood Elementary and Amanda Edmunds of Evergreen Elementary.
  • Allison Page, who teaches a collaborative class of seventh- and eighth-grade language arts at Bailey Bridge Middle, is the Middle School Beginning Teacher of the Year. Finalists were Hannah Limbaugh of Swift Creek Middle and Paul Jackson of Falling Creek Middle.
  • Jennifer Walters, who teaches photography at Meadowbrook High, is the High School Beginning Teacher of the Year. Finalists were Jessica Kramer of Midlothian High and Joshua Dutton of Bird High.
