Chesterfield County Public Schools students win art awards at the Virginia State Fair

Chesterfield County Public Schools students from the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center at Courthouse won numerous awards in the Virginia State Fair Youth Arts and Crafts contest. Nineteen students from Chesterfield County Public Schools entered artwork into the competition.

Four students won or tied for first place in their respective categories in the electronic media portion of the contest, and one student received the Best in Division honor for their original computer illustration in black and white or color.

The following students won in the respective categories:

Desktop Publishing

  • First Place (tie): “Hatch Show Print” by Sha’Rena Miller, Thomas Dale High
  • First Place (tie): “Legend Magazine” by Kristen Marshall, Clover Hill High
  • Second Place: “Happy Holidays” Jensen Klenske, Cosby High

Digital Art – Black and White or Color:

  • First Place: “Portrait” by Faith Faulkner, James River High
  • Second Place: “Double Exposure Self Portrait” by Kayla Eaglin, Clover Hill High
  • Third Place (tie): “Giraffe” by Jensen Klenske, Cosby High
  • Third Place (tie): “Brownstone” by Chris Accurso, Thomas Dale High

Original Computer Illustration – Black and White or Color:

  • Best in Division: “Sugar Skull” by Joelle Probst, James River High
  • First Place: “Diner Devine” by Sha’Rena Miller, Thomas Dale High
  • Second Place: “Self Portrait” by Alison Connolly, Matoaca high

Third Place: “Jellyfish” by Jensen Klenske, Cosby High
