Chesterfield County Public Schools to use 10-point grading scale beginning with 2014-15 school year

Starting with the 2014-15 school year, students in Chesterfield County Public Schools will be evaluated on a 10-point grading scale. The School Board revised its uniform grading standards (Policy 3040-R) on June 24. Here are the new grading scales:

The new grading scale is not retroactive; grades that students have earned in previous years will not be recalculated.

A grading practices committee made up of teachers, students, parents and administrators spearheaded the effort to change from a 6-point scale to a 10-point scale. Many school divisions in Virginia and across the country have adopted the 10-point scale, which is based on the College Board’s grading scale and used by most colleges.
