Chesterfield students to participate in Walk to School Day

Nine Chesterfield County schools are scheduled to participate in the upcoming International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

International Walk to School Day raises awareness about the benefits of walking and biking, as well as the need for safe routes to schools. The celebration began in 1997 and has become the signature fall event for the year-round Safe Routes to School movement. Thousands of schools across the United States participate in a variety of ways every October.

Bellwood Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven located at 9700 Jefferson Davis Highway
  • Also picking up students at 8:40 a.m. at Perlock Road and Brandywine Avenue, 8:45 a.m. at Perlock Road and Kerwin Road, and 8:50 a.m. at Perlock Road and Proctors Road

Clover Hill Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8 a.m. at Woodlake Swim and Racquet Club located at 5000 Woodlake Village Parkway

Crestwood Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8:15 a.m. at Bon Air United Methodist Church located at 1645 Buford Road

Gordon Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8:30 a.m. at Smoketree Pool located at 11100 Smoketree Drive

Greenfield Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8:35 a.m. at Greenfield Community Pool located at 2221 Woodmont Drive
  • Starting location: 8:35 a.m. at Settler’s Landing Pool located at 2345 Wrens Nest Road

Spring Run Elementary School

  • Starting location: 7:45 a.m. at Collington Club located at 10000 Collington Drive

Swift Creek Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8:45 a.m. at St. Ledger’s Pool located at 2400 Sandyridge Parkway

Bettie Weaver Elementary School

  • Starting location: 8:30 a.m. at Robious Landing Park located at 3800 James River Road

Elizabeth Davis Middle School

  • Starting location: 7:50 a.m. at Baptist School located at 500 Baptist Drive
