You know the winter holidays are approaching when forecasters begin pontificating about when the first snowfall will occur. As much as everyone loves a good snow day, I find myself drawn this time of year to the lure of Thanksgiving.
There’s just something special about family, a day of football and sitting down face to face over a good meal to share what you are thankful for in life. This year, as your still relatively new Superintendent, I have a bounty of thanks to give.
When I was chosen to lead this phenomenal school division, I said it was a career goal I had been working toward ever since I left Chesterfield County Public Schools a decade ago. As the dream turned into reality, I began to better understand the opportunity I had been given: Leading what many believe is the best school division in Virginia, if not the country.
I tell my senior leadership team weekly how amazed I am by the work I see in our schools and how fortunate I am to be your leader. When I sit down Thursday with family, I will give thanks for the many blessings that I have in my life. I will give thanks for:
Happy Thanksgiving, Team Chesterfield!
