Open meetings are scheduled Jan. 19-20; one site has changed

A survey is now available at mychesterfieldschools.com asking Chesterfield County community members to describe the abilities and traits they would like to see in the next superintendent of Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Here is a direct link to the survey, which will remain open for comments until Feb. 12: www.surveymonkey.com/r/9KK6K9G.

The Chesterfield County School Board has hired BWP & Associates to conduct a national search for the next superintendent of Chesterfield County Public Schools. The School Board is seeking a successor to Dr. Marcus Newsome, who announced in the fall that he will retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

These community forums, which are open to all county residents, have been scheduled:

  • 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at Manchester High for the Matoaca District (This is a change from the previously announced site.)
  • 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at Clover Hill High for the Clover Hill and Midlothian districts
  • 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Carver Middle for the Bermuda District
  • 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Meadowbrook High for the Dale District

Information gathered from the online survey and from the community forums will help create a leadership profile, which will help the search firm

  • learn strengths and needs of Chesterfield County Public Schools to recruit the best candidates
  • be able to describe the opportunities provided by the school division to potential candidates
  • engage the community to build support for the search
