More than 300 employees are retiring from Chesterfield County Public Schools this school year. To honor their service, the school system hosted a May 19 retirement celebration at the Career and Technical Center @ Hull. The event was catered by Career and Technical Center students studying culinary arts and baking and was sponsored in part by VALIC.
The retirement event began with a reception, then moved to the auditorium for remarks by School Board Chair Dianne Smith, Superintendent Marcus Newsome and Community Relations Director Tim Bullis. Each retiree was called forward individually to be personally thanked by School Board members and school division leaders and to receive a small gift.
In total, the 306 retirees have worked about 6,800 years for Chesterfield County Public Schools and represent all aspects of the school system. Some of the retiring employees have dedicated decades of their professional life to Chesterfield County Public Schools, including
