Gov. Terry McAuliffe and the Virginia Board of Education honored 14 Chesterfield County schools with 2015 Virginia Index of Performance awards for advanced learning and achievement earlier this week.
Eight schools earned Board of Education Excellence Awards: Grange Hall Elementary, Greenfield Elementary, Robious Elementary, Bettie Weaver Elementary, Winterpock Elementary, Woolridge Elementary, Cosby High and Midlothian High. Statewide, 109 schools won this award for meeting all state and federal accountability benchmarks and making significant progress toward goals for increased student achievement and expanded educational opportunities set by the Virginia Board of Education.
Six Chesterfield schools earned Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Awards: Bon Air Elementary, Gordon Elementary, Watkins Elementary, Wells Elementary, Midlothian Middle and Tomahawk Creek Middle. Statewide, 137 schools won this award for meeting all state and federal benchmarks and making progress toward the goals of the governor and the state board.
