Chesterfield County Public Schools students paint the plows with Virginia Department of Transportation

With the winter weather in store for this weekend, be sure to lookout for the painted snow plows courtesy of Chesterfield County Public Schools. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the school division collaborated on a pilot program called “Paint the Plows” to promote community building, school pride, local talent and awareness for snow removal operations.

VDOT provided seven plows to seven Chesterfield County Public Schools high schools to be painted by local students and returned for snow removal service this snow season. More than 60 students across the seven schools participated in painting the snow plows, which will be used in each of the seven high school neighborhoods.

Leading up to the snowy forecast this weekend, VDOT has been displaying many of the plows outside of their district offices in Chesterfield County to showcase the beautiful artwork of the students. Students, staff and parents are excited to see the plows in action this winter on their streets.
