Parental Rights in Special Education

View or print the newest version of the Virginia Special Education Procedural Safeguard Requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Parents may visit the Virginia Department of Education web site to view these safeguards in other languages.

Each student who is found eligible for special education services and attends a Chesterfield school has an individualized education plan (IEP). This plan, including programming services, is developed by a team that includes the child’s parents, teachers and school administrator.

Parent/Teacher Resource Center (P/TRC)
Located at the Fulghum Center, the P/TRC serves as a resource for parents and teachers. Parents and teachers may attend a variety of courses offered throughout the year, borrow materials from the lending library or request consultations from the P/TRC staff.

Assistive Technology Center (AT Center)
