Midlothian District School Board member Dr. Javaid Siddiqi will hold a community meeting to discuss the potential impact of local housing construction on schools in the Midlothian District. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at Midlothian High School.
Several large scale apartment/townhome projects are in the works for the area that serves Old Hundred Elementary, Watkins Elementary, Weaver Elementary, Midlothian Middle and Midlothian High. The potential exists for several hundred new students to join the surrounding schools, which are already currently at or near capacity.
Thursday night’s meeting is in advance of a Chesterfield County community meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29 at Winfree Baptist Church. The July 29 meeting pertains to a proposal for 20.7 acres of land on Coalfield Road to be rezoned in order to build a maximum of 165 dwelling units that will be a mix of single-family and townhomes.
