On Tuesday June 12, James River High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadet Clark Brandau was recognized with the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement. Brandau, one of only 22 Navy JROTC cadets nationwide to earn this prestigious recognition, received the award for demonstrating outstanding leadership and scholarship. Retired Master Chief Special Warfare Operator (Navy SEAL) Britt Slabinski, the U.S. Navy’s most recent recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle of Robert’s Ridge in Afghanistan in 2002, presented the award, which is the highest honor a student in ROTC can receive. There are over 88,000 students enrolled in 583 NJROTC programs nationwide.
