There are teachers, and then there are Super Teachers. Kimberly Bliley, special education teacher at Midlothian Middle, was selected as one of eight educators statewide to receive the 2012 Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Award. She learned of her award May 22 during a surprise presentation. The award consists of a cash prize of $2,000 and an additional $2,000 classroom credit from The Supply Room Cos.

Stephanie Gerber, parent of a student, nominated Mrs. Bliley, writing this: “Kimberly Bliley is an educator of true distinction. She serves the lost, the forgotten, and the often hard to love child with absolute passion and commitment. She has my highest recommendation to be Virginia’s Super Teacher as she is exceptional in her profession, innovation and creativity, and ability to involve parents and families in their student’s educational journey.”
