Earlier this morning, parents at Manchester High School were contacted directly and provided with an update about an investigation that occurred overnight and into the early hours of the morning.
Working collaboratively with the police department, it was determined that comments made about Manchester High School and perpetuated on social media were not credible. School started on time and instruction has continued as normal this morning. We appreciate the support of parents who have built a trusting relationship with Manchester High School and who waited patiently for information. Thank you for trusting us to serve your children.
We are aware of media reports that also said there were comments or threats made against Bailey Bridge Middle. Those reports are not accurate, and we are not aware of where the TV station’s information originated from.
As a division, we take every reasonable step to protect our students and staff members. Children cannot learn if they do not feel safe, and it is our intention to provide a safe harbor for the 6.5 hours we have them.
Parents, please remind your children about the impact of words and how they can be taken out of context. Please also remind your children about the dangerous power the Internet has and how one comment or one post can become a huge distraction or disruption.
Working together, we can continue to provide our students with a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment.
