Student creativity takes center stage at Fine Arts Festival

Chesterfield County community is welcome at free event April 16-17

The Fine Arts Festival of Chesterfield County Public Schools will take place 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. April 16 and noon-4:30 p.m. April 17 at Thomas Dale High, 3626 W. Hundred Road, home of the Visual and Performing Arts Specialty Center. The Fine Arts Festival is free and open to the community each year.

Swirling with student creativity, this event will feature examples of visual arts and performing arts. On display will be thousands of paintings, drawings, sculptures and other visual art created by students in the 63 schools of Chesterfield County Public Schools. Three stages will feature student performers, including a variety of music, acting and singing.

On April 17, there will be a special recognition at 3:30 p.m. in the main auditorium in honor of Superintendent Marcus Newsome, who is retiring at the end of this school year and who began his career in education as an art teacher.
