There is still time to register for adult ed classes

There is still time for adults to register for classes offered by Chesterfield County Public Schools. The Adult Continuing Education Office provides many opportunities for lifelong learning, including these workforce training classes that still have space available:

  • Medical administrative assistant class will meet 6-8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 9 to May 18 at the Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse. Sometimes called medical office secretaries or medical office assistants, certified medical administrative assistants perform administrative tasks to help doctors’ offices and clinics run efficiently. Prerequisites are successful completion of introduction to health care or other health-related class and successful completion of keyboarding course or demonstration of keyboarding skills. The fee is $310; this class is approved for veterans benefits.
  • Medication aide technician class will meet 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 25 through May 6 at the Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse. This course is designed for anyone seeking employment as a medication aide in an assisted living facility. A prerequisite is nurse aide certification. The fee is $500; this class is approved for veterans benefits.
  • Cosmetology I class will meet 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 11 to May 27 at the Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse. This course provides a basic understanding of manicures, pedicures, facials, body massages, shampooing, rinsing, scalp and hair care, finger waving, hair styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, hair sculpting, makeup, bacteriology, haircutting and sanitation methods. The fee is $745; this class is approved for veterans benefits.
  • Horticulturist certification class will meet 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays from March 24 to May 19 at the Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse. Sponsored by the Central Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, this class helps students prepare for the Virginia Certified Horticulturist exam. The class is geared toward employees of garden centers and other businesses, but home gardeners and landscapers will also benefit. The fee is $215; this class is approved for veterans benefits.
  • Culinary arts class will meet 6-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from March 2 to May 27 at the Career and Technical Center @ Courthouse. The culinary arts curriculum provides a foundation for a comprehensive knowledge of the food service industry and opportunities to build technical skills. Students will earn ServSafe certification in this class. The fee is $580; this class is approved for veterans benefits.
