Teacher of the Year
Portrait of Liz Cruz

Congratulations Liz Cruz, 2023 Teacher of the Year

The foundation of success in Liz Cruz’s classroom begins with the positive relationships that she builds each year with her students and families. Liz is the teacher that kids cross their fingers and hope to have. She puts energy and enthusiasm into every lesson and works hard to provide the best for her students while also creating a cohesive classroom community. Liz cares deeply about each of her Sharks and does everything she can so that they succeed inside and outside the classroom. She is an asset to students, parents and colleagues, and we are so lucky to have her at Alberta Smith!

Portrait of Anne Croxton

Congratulations Ms. Croxton, 2022-23 Teacher of the Year

Anne Croxton has taught kindergarten for more than 40 years. If you ask her when she is going to retire, she cannot tell you because she still enjoys what she is doing and truly does not have a retirement date. Her students quickly learn routines and procedures. After two weeks of school, students are in small group with the teacher while other students are able to work independently during that time. We call her class Croxton University because her students can do so much at the age of 5. She is absolutely amazing. We are so lucky to have her as a Shark!
