The Social Studies Department at Bailey Bridge facilitates students’ learning about the history, government, and economy of the United States. In the 6th grade the students study about colonization and the early years of our nation up to the Civil War. During the 7th grade the curriculum covers from the time of Reconstruction (after the Civil War) through the current day.
They finish their middle school years by learning about our government (civics) and our economic system. Students are taught using a variety of methods so as to accommodate all kinds of learners (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic). A variety of activities are used in order to enhance learning. Students enjoy many different strategies as teachers concentrate on learning techniques that will help all students. Field trips and/or guest speakers help students to understand particular Standards of Learning.
