When can I access the course?

Answer: The course is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer with Internet access.

What is the address for Canvas?

Answer: First, sign into my.ccpsnet.net. Then, click the Canvas icon . You may need to sign back in with Rapid Identity after clicking the Canvas icon.
NOTE: sometimes students may get temporarily dropped in Synergy during registration periods. If that occurs, your icon may not show. If that happens, let your teacher know and temporarily use the following Canvas link:

Do I have to take exams if I am taking an online course?

Answer: All school year courses require a proctored semester and final exam. This applies to all students regardless of your grade level. There are no senior exemptions for CCPSOnline exams. The general exam schedule is posted on the CCPSOnline website calendar and specific information about the exam for your course will be found in the course information section once you have access to your online course.

All summer courses require a proctored final exam. Due to summer time constraints these exams are given during a specified 2 week period and it is mandatory that students be available to take their exam during that time.

How do I register for classes?

Answer:  In order to register for classes vist the CCPSOnline Learning Registration Page, and choose school year or summer session.

Where is the registration form?

Answer: Links to the registration forms for both the summer and school year are below the Online Learning Registration information on the Registration page.

Is there a cost to take a class online?

Answer:During the school year, Chesterfield County students are not charged an additional fee.

During the summer, classes are $250 for Chesterfield County residents and $500 for Non-Chesterfield County residents.

**Please not that fees are annually reviewed and subject to change.**

What if I need to update my email address?

Answer: Please email your teacher and CCPSOnline with your new email address as soon as possible! Be sure to include your first and last name in your email. You are also able to change your password within Canvas.

System Requirements

Hardware
Platform: Windows (except Windows XP or Vista which we can no longer support) ; We are also nearing full support for CCPS-issued Chromebooks, but you may find (depending on your class) a few items or assignments that require a PC.
Network: Cable broadband
Sound Card: Needed with speakers and/or headphones
Please note: Mac computers may be used, but CCPS technology standards only support PC computers. Using a Mac product may result in problems for the student for which CCPSOnline may not be able to provide assistance.

Software
Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended on home computers (latest version is strongly recommended). Other options are available on Chromebooks.
Adobe Flash Player Flash Player is still included with MS Edge and Chrome browsers. On a home computer, it can be installed separately as well (If installed manually, latest version is strongly recommended; for viewing animations or interactive content).
Additional software and/or plug-ins may be needed for specific classes.

Internet and Email Account
Students will need regular access to a computer with high-speed access to the Internet, preferably from home.
Email is the primary method of communication for CCPSOnline. The student and parent will need an active email address that is checked regularly. Questions should be emailed to the online teacher. Any change of email address must be reported to your teacher and to CCPSOnline@ccpsnet.net.

Click the Help button in the in your Canvas menu to see if you can find the answer to your question.
Email your teacher and describe in detail the problem you are experiencing (include computer, operating system, browser). Your teacher will either answer your question or will contact technical services to find the answer to your question

Canvas supports the current and first previous major releases of the following browsers:

Chrome
Firefox (Extended Releases are not supported)
Flash 31 and 32 (used for recording or viewing audio/video and uploading files)
Internet Explorer 11 (Windows only—functionally supported; may exhibit slight visual differences from other browsers, but these differences do not restrict product functionality)
Edge (Windows only)
Safari (Macintosh only)
Respondus Lockdown Browser (supporting the latest system requirements)
You should always use the most current version of your preferred browser. Your browser will notify you if there is a new version available.
