The English department at Cosby High School is committed to instilling in students a life-long interest in reading and writing. Students will sharpen their awareness of language and understanding of the writer’s craft.

We offer a variety of courses including the study of genre, world literature, American literature, British literature, AP Language and AP Literature. In our courses the students will be exposed to poetry, short stories, novels, essays and various types of writing including persuasive, argument, expository, narrative, technical and formal research.

End of Course Standards of Learning tests are required for writing in the 10th grade and reading in the 11th grade.
