The “middle years” can be a challenging time for many families. Transitioning from elementary, middle, and high school can be daunting. CCPS Office of Family and Community Engagement is hosting a transition fair on February 20, 2020 at the Career and Technical Center 13900 Hull Street that has strategies and resources for families navigating these years of dramatic change: The Middle Ages. The event will start with a keynote speaker, Dr. David Ellena, father, coach, teacher and principal of Tomahawk Creek middle school, discussing the developmental changes and challenges that happen during middle school. There will be breakout sessions for parents and caregivers that are specifically designed for families entering sixth grade; recognizing the social, emotional, and physical changes in students; fostering responsible technology habits and Internet safety; and tips on heading to high school.
