The home instruction specialist of Chesterfield County Public Schools is available to help with the steps necessary to legally provide home instruction (sometimes referred to as homeschooling) for your children. This information is designed to help parents through the process in order to ensure that students have the necessary resources for a successful home instruction experience.

Important Dates for Home Instruction (Homeschooling)

  • Aug. 1 — Evidence of Progress due to home instruction specialist
  • Aug. 15 — Notice of Intent due to home instruction specialist
  • To expedite the processing of your request, please send the notice of intent and evidence of progress together. Verification letters will be mailed once all documentation is received.
  • Mid-April (annual dates TBD) — Iowa Test administration
  • June 1 — Iowa test results to be mailed to parents
