Anthony J. McLaurin, Ed.D. is excited to begin his second year as principal at G.W. Carver Middle School! Dr. McLaurin earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Virginia State University in 2017. He earned a Master’s degree from Virginia State in Education Administration and Supervision and graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Dr. McLaurin has been an educator for fourteen years. He began his administrative career in 2012 as Dean of Students at Thomas Dale High School. He later served as an Assistant Principal in Richmond Public schools and returned to Thomas Dale as an Assistant Principal. Dr. McLaurin and his wife Takeya have three children, A.J., Camren and Noah, all of whom attend Chesterfield County Public Schools. Dr. McLaurin loves to attend live sporting events, spending time with family and perfecting recipes on the barbecue grill in his free time. Dr. McLaurin believes that learning should be fun and his goal is to ensure that teachers and students love coming to Carver Middle everyday.
