Arianne Hayes - Principal

I am excited to join the Roadrunner family!  I look forward to serving as your principal as we continue to forge a path through academic and social emotional learning experiences. These experiences will enrich the lives of all students and positively impact our school community.

I immediately felt the spirit, support and strength within the school community when I took on the role as your principal.  As a former elementary and high school special education teacher, dean of students and associate principal in the Midlothian District, coming to Chalkley has felt like coming home.  I have always felt a strong connection to this community and am excited to work with our families and neighbors.

Chalkley Elementary School is a community of resilient, productive, & compassionate learners empowered by strong relationships.  I can assure you that our students, staff and administration will embody an Infinite Learner Mindset, and will feel safe and supported within our school community.

I am a native of Atlanta, Georgia but currently reside in Midlothian with my family.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, Gabby Rose 3, and Adrian 1, as well as my supportive husband who also serves the local community. We enjoy walks in the park, art projects, books and time as a family.  My personal hobbies include reading, working out, relaxing by ANY body of water and connecting with loved ones.

As we set the stage for the 2020-2021 school year, it is imperative that we put in the work, remain engaged and reflect on our goals.  Together, we will enable our students to thrive within Chalkley and become critical-thinking global citizens.  If you need anything from me please feel free to contact me via email or by phone at 804-674-1300.

I am happy to be part of the Chalkley administrative team as one of the Assistant Principals. I started my teaching career in Chesterfield at Chalkley 22 years ago remaining on staff for ten years. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a BS in Elementary Education and from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Masters in Administration and Supervision. I have sixteen years of teaching experience in 2nd – 5th grade and 8th grade at the middle school level. I have had 11 years of experience as an administrator in Chesterfield County. I do believe that all children can learn and achieve academic success when provided the best teaching practices in an engaging, safe and supportive learning environment.

Shelby Bartilotti - Dean of Students

Hi Chalkley Families,

I am over the moon excited about joining the Roadrunner family this year as the Dean of Students for Chalkley Elementary School. As soon as I walked through Chalkley’s doors, I have already experienced the passion, quest for excellence, and enthusiasm exhibited by both staff and families. I am a product of Chesterfield County, graduating from Thomas Dale High School. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, I felt a drive to come back and work for the community I grew up in.
I started my career in education as a special education teacher and a coordinator for 21st Century Grant. In both roles, I have recognized two things. First, every single child is capable of amazing growth and success, and second, our families are the experts on their children. In order for our students to reach their full potential, it is important that families and the school come together in true partnership. I am looking forward to working with all of our students and families this year.

As we navigate through the 2020-2021 school year, we will need to come together as a community to ensure that our students keep that thirst for knowledge and stay excited about learning. Please know that I am available via email at or by phone at 804-674-1300. I look forward to developing a strong partnership with all of our students and families this year.
