Teacher of the Year
Portrait of Erin Mallory

Congratulations Erin Mallory, 2023 Teacher of the Year

What sets Erin Mallory apart from her peers is her ability to meet individual students where they are and grow them exponentially. Erin teaches our ESOL collaborative fifth grade class. Her class roster spans students who are reading on a kindergarten level with limited English proficiency up to students who are reading above grade level and everything in between. To effectively provide accommodations or modifications for English language learners while challenging everyone else is nothing short of amazing. She is a gift to every student who is lucky enough to be assigned to her class.

Congratulations Mrs. Rivera, 2022-2023 Chesterfield County Teacher of the Year

I often joke that you will hear Sra. Rivera long before you see her. Truth be told, it really isn’t a joke. Every day, she brings big energy and excitement to our building in the form of laughter, music and dance. As our Spanish resource teacher, her lessons engaged and educated students on different cultures. Now as our third-grade dual language immersion Spanish teacher, she is helping our students grow in their bilingualism, biliteracy and appreciation of culture. She also has helped our overall school population feel seen, heard and celebrated. Our once-shy Spanish speakers are now showing off their bilingualism and proudly sharing more about their cultures.
