The Office of Family and Community Engagement works to maximize partnerships between the school division, our families and community. We work with our schools to help provide families diverse pathways to engage in their child’s education, as well as providing professional development for staff to ensure that engagement efforts are linked to student success. At the center of our work is the belief that our families are their child’s first teacher, want the very best for their child and play a vital role in their child’s education.
We are honored to host many family engagement activities throughout the year. From our annual Kindergarten Readiness Fair to our work around college and career readiness, we are committed to providing opportunities for families to join together as a community. These events are advertised through SchoolMessenger and individual schools, as well as on the school division’s website and social media channels. In addition to events hosted at the division level, we share other events that could be of interest through our various communication tools. If there is something that you would like to see in Chesterfield, please contact us at [email protected].
Our work is done in collaboration with school division departments, such as the Department of Equity and Student Support Services and the Department of Curriculum Development and Support, in order to ensure our programming is linked to our strategic plan, Imagine Tomorrow. We are building school division-specific resources, such as podcasts, videos and online modules designed to flip the way we share information with families. These resources are available under the Families tab of mychesterfieldschools.com. We realize that families have many demands on their time and cannot often attend events; however, we believe that being informed is a key piece of the family-school partnership and are committed to providing it in family-friendly ways.
