Chesterfield County schools are among the places offering free summer meals for children who are 1-18 years old. At summer school sites, breakfast and lunch will be available Monday through Thursday from June 27 through July 21; get all of the details here. Children entering kindergarten this fall or older students who are new to Chesterfield County should register as soon as possible with Chesterfield County Public Schools. School registration details are easy to find at That site includes lots of helpful links, including a find-my-school widget, school supply lists and transportation details.

It’s summer break now, but back-to-school preparations are underway. Aug. 22 is the first day of the 2022-23 school year for most schools in Chesterfield County. Juneteenth events #

Juneteenth is June 19, a celebration of the day that enslaved people in Texas first learned about the Emancipation Proclamation, two and a half years after it was signed. Chesterfield County is offering a variety of programs and events.
