Dear Team Chesterfield families,
“Welcome” has never carried quite so much emotion as this message for the new school year. After a year like no other, the 2021-22 school year is arriving with hope for a post-pandemic world. Welcoming our students, teachers, staff and families into a new school year lifts our hearts and puts smiles on our faces.
As happy as we are to move forward, we acknowledge that healing is needed as we begin to come together after being apart for so long. Our schools will work to support the mental, social and emotional needs of our students as well as meet their academic needs. Lessons learned since March 2020 will help shape our approach as we seize this unprecedented opportunity to make sure we are all moving ahead together.
Chesterfield County Public Schools is meeting students and families where they are. While most of our students are returning to in-person instruction, other families are choosing online instruction. We all want what is best for each of our 61,000+ students — and working together we will create the best possible learning environments for them. We are on the go to create a better tomorrow and promote integrity, equity , teamwork and ingenuity.
Among the 100 largest school systems in the nation and the fifth largest in Virginia, Chesterfield County Public Schools is a bedrock organization in our community. Investments in public education that Chesterfield County citizens have made over the years continue to demonstrate strong returns, and we thank you for your ongoing support.
