Virginia public schools must be in session at least 180 days or provide a minimum of 990 instructional hours each school year. Chesterfield’s 2021-22 calendar is 177 days long but exceeds the state’s minimum requirements for seat time. On six days, students will be dismissed three hours early to give teachers time for planning and professional development. Parents are encouraged to plan ahead for early dismissals, by shifting work schedules so that they can be with their children, contacting after-school programs or coordinating with friends and neighbors. The calendars in this publication show the early-release days. School starting times also can be found in this publication.
