Students are engaging in Social Emotional Learning through the Caring Schools Community curriculum designed by The Center for the Collaborative Classroom. Social Emotional Learning seeks to develop and strengthen the following core skills in the classroom and we hope that your child will soon begin to transfer these skills into all areas of life.
Through Class Meetings, we are trying to build a safe, caring, helpful, and happy community. During class meetings, students follow these “norms,” or ways that they want to treat each other and/or be treated.
- One person talks at a time
- Look at the person who is talking
- Let classmates have their own feelings and opinions
At home, we hope that students will continue to develop their respect for others through taking turns, participating in conversation with eye contact, and without interrupting, as well as recognizing multiple perspectives, feelings, and opinions.
