Recover, Redesign, Restart

We look forward to welcoming our approximately 63,000 students back into classrooms as quickly and as safely as possible, understanding that they learn best when in-person instruction occurs.

We also look forward to reviewing the 126 pages worth of detailed guidance that will provide specific examples of what is needed from health, safety and logistical perspectives to reopen our schools. We also will be studying carefully how these incorporate social distancing practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

We know that creativity in terms of school design will be needed in order to accommodate social distancing guidance, and that school will not look like it did on March 12 when we were last in classrooms.

The below document is provided by the Virginia Department of Education to provide guidance for reopening school.
