Bell Schedule

Students may not arrive at Hopkins Elementary before 8:55 A.M. because supervision is not provided before that time.

1st bell: 9:00 A.M.
Tardy bell: 9:25 A.M.

*Exceptions will be made for the following circumstances:
Students who are scheduled to work with teachers and/or administrators;
Students who are invited to attend special events or activities such as book clubs, extended day program, etc.; and/or
Students who attend conferences with parents and teacher(s).

Students should report directly to class when they arrive at school.

School History

Hopkins Elementary School was constructed by the Chesterfield County School Board and
designed by the architect and planner, C. Page Highfill and William Moseley of Richmond, Virginia.

The school was opened in the fall of 1975 and was named for the road on which it was built. Its structure was flexible and its design was modern. Being situated in a rapidly developing area, the school continued to grow in pupil size from its original opening in September 2, 1975 with an enrollment of 515 students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Since 1977, Hopkins Elementary has enrolled students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

In January, 1985 the original structure was renovated to provide enclosed classrooms for a self-contained operation. An additional 12 classrooms and a computer lab were added during the 1985-1986 school year. Since then we have added a gymnasium
