BUSINESS MEETING
The Board approved the following administrators as part of the Recommended Personnel Actions:
New Hires:
- Robin Hollenbeck, Assistant Director of Compensation and Benefits
Change in Assignment:
- Jason Buck, Assistant Director of HR Information Systems
- Douglas Fordham, Assistant Principal at Online Learning
- Moira Sallade, Assistant Principal at Carver MS
Awards and Recognitions:
Congratulations to the Bird HS boys team for winning the 2022 VHSL class 5 state championship in outdoor track and field. Here are the members of the Bird HS boys state championship outdoor Track team:
- Coaches: Adam Canning, Anthony Calicutt, Darlington Tawiah, Lamont Bowles, and Justin Snyder
- Athletes: Jayson Ward (captain), Makai Lewis (captain), El Amir Hanifi, Tyson Satterwhite, Davien Banks, Keomonte Williams, Jashaun Amin, Aubriel Winfield, Kemar Fraierson, and Bryant Lovett
Individual titles were also won by the following students:
- Jayson Ward won the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.46
- The 4×400 meter relay team (Makai Lewis, Tyson Satterwhite, Bryant Lovett and Davien Banks) won with a time of 3:21.57
- Makai Lewis won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.93
Congratulations to Kaitlyn Cook, on the Bird HS girls team, who won the long jump with a leap of 18-6. The Bird girls team finished seventh overall.
Congratulations to Madison McConico, of Thomas Dale HS, who won the 2022 triple jump title in Class 6 of the Virginia High School League outdoor track state championships with a leap of 40 feet, 3 inches.
Congratulations to Clover Hill HS for winning the 2021-22 National Guard Cup in Class 5 of the Virginia High School League for year long academic activities success. This is Clover Hill’s second cup, previously winning in 2016. Clover Hill High scored points in these competitions:
- Theater: Carli Wilkerson is the adviser and participating students are Laurel Bennett, Sarah Craft, Riot Gradillas, Genesis Gradillas, River DeFrancesco, Jupiter Blanks, Aurora Jarreau, Lumi Voigt, Libbie Radgowski, Gray White and Maddox Barnes.
- Debate: Hunter Clark is the adviser and participating students are Nadara Hudson, Vinata Kondragunta, Maggie Matzen, Ayathi Gogineni and Eric Walker.
- Film: Amanda Berneche is the adviser and participating students are Kaylee Futrell, Serenity Martin, Kalee Patel, Bailey Brinson, Vinnie Shelah, Jaden Smith, William Whitlock and Johnathan Sabourin.
- Yearbook.
The School Board recognized the Friends of Ettrick Early Learning Center for supporting children, families and educators since 2017 who recently had to close due to unavoidable staffing situations.
The following bus drivers were recognized for their outstanding performance:
- Christie Sam, Area 1, Bus 213, 11 months of service
- George Howard, Area 2, Bus 205, 9 months of service
- Hope Jones, Area 3, Bus 824, 15 years of service
- Bobby Radford, Area 4, Bus 328, 9 months of service
- Nohora Chitiva, Area 5, Bus 235, 1 year of service
The following food service employees were recognized for their outstanding performance:
- Nicole Bennett, Food Service Associate at Meadowbrook HS, 2 years of service
- Kshipra Shah, Food Service Associate at Elizabeth Davis MS, 1 year of service
- Heather Campbell, Food Service Manager at Reams Road ES, 1 year of service
- Tanisha Miller, Food Service Manager at Watkins ES, 3 year of service

– The Board approved Memo #124-22 (attached), which recommended that the Board authorize the Procurement Director to enter into a Construction agreement with Gulf Seaboard General Contractors for Falling Creek Middle School Building Construction in the amount of $81,618,815.00, and to approve any necessary Change Orders that do not exceed 10% of the value of the base contract.
– The Board approved Memo #125-22 (attached), which recommended that the Board waive a second reading of and adopt revisions to Policy 2040 and Policy 6131. Redlined versions of these policies can be found attached to this memo and in BoardDocs.
