Kristin Saady - Principal

I am excited and honored to join the hive at Hening Elementary as principal!  Thank you for the warm welcome and I am looking forward to getting to know you all.  Prior to this position, I have enjoyed being an associate principal in elementary and an administrator at the middle school level. I have also taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grades, all in Chesterfield County.

I grew up in the Midlothian area and love calling RVA home! I attended Longwood University for my undergrad degree in Elementary Education and Regent University for a Master’s in Educational Leadership.  I am dedicated to educating our students and supporting teachers.  We want

My husband and I stay busy with our daughters, Caroline and Eva, along with our two Goldendoodles. We also have two cats as well as many fish in our fish pond! We enjoy spending time with our family and friends, heading to the beach when it’s warm, and eating out.

Teaching has always been my passion and I am fortunate to be able to work in a place with amazing students and people each day. I look forward to watching our Hornets buzz and grow this year.

Looking forward to an incredible year! We are all in.

Jason Gill - Assistant Principal

Hey, Hening Hornets!

I am SUPER excited about joining the Hornet family this year as your second Assistant Principal. My educational belief is that ALL students can learn no matter what with the right support and a growth mindset. School should be a safe place for students to attend each day and they should feel comfortable sharing their needs as they grow as a learner. Students are most successful when teachers and parents/guardians work together to assist with their child’s learning. As the old saying goes…”It takes a village to raise a child”. We are all in…this together! #Hening

I started my educational journey in 2001 as a 4th grade teacher at O.B. Gates Elementary in Chesterfield. For the next 10 years at Gates I taught 4th and 5th grade. I left the elementary level to teach 7th Grade Life Science for three years at Bailey Bridge Middle in CCPS. I returned to the elementary level in 2014 as an Assistant Administrator at Marguerite Christian Elementary with CCPS. After two years in this capacity I moved on to Chalkley Elementary in 2016 as their Assistant Principal. I served Chalkley as one of their Assistant Principals for the last four years. Now, it is with great pleasure that I am joining the Hening Hornets as their second Assistant Principal for the 20-21 school year. I cannot believe I am starting my 20th year with CCPS!

I cannot believe my 20th year in education is in the year 2020 and we are ALL experiencing something in education that none of us could have ever dreamed of…Virtual School due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I hope to see all of you eventually in person! Remember…to always do your BEST no matter what! I want to leave you with two phrases that I always share with my students and staff…1) “Today is Tomorrow’s Yesterday…SO make it COUNT”! 2) “Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE because the word itself says…I’m Possible”.

I grew up in Dinwiddie County, VA, but moved to Chesterfield when I started teaching and have called Chesterfield my home for the last 18 years. When I’m not in the school building I love spending time outside with my family camping. I also love to ride my bike, hunt and fish.

Jennifer Booker - Dean

I am so excited to be serving as the new Dean of Hening Elementary School. This is my twenty-first year in education and my sixteenth year in Chesterfield County. I have taught both in special education classrooms and general education classrooms including first through fifth grade. Most recently, I have served as the Coordinator of Special Education at Swift Creek Elementary. This experience led me to decide to pursue a path to administration, so I am (as the kids like to say) a Principal In Training.

In my short time at Hening, I have come to realize how “All In” everyone is for student learning and positive outcomes. Hening pride shines through, and I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this family.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy kayaking with my husband, Michael, and taking walks with my dog, Beau. I have two sons, John 21, and Andrew 16. Our family loves going to the movies and playing games.

I am looking forward to getting to know the students and families here at Hening who have already made me feel so welcome.

Mr. Cartwright

I am so excited to be the Coordinator of Special Education (CSE) for the vibrant, diverse, and dynamic community that we call our Hening Family. This is my fourth year as an educator and my second year in Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS). I received my Bachelors of Science in Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology from Old Dominion University (ODU). I continued my education at ODU and obtained a Masters of Science degree in Special Education. During my masters program, I began my teaching career as a Special Education Teacher in Hampton City Schools.

After completing my masters program and two years in Hampton City Schools, I moved to Henrico, Virginia. I began teaching in CCPS at Hening. During my first year at Hening, I was the teacher of students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities and students with Emotional Disabilities. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with those students. The next year, I remained the teacher of students with Emotional Disabilities. In October of 2019, I was offered the position of CSE. As the CSE, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with all stakeholders in our Hening community: parents, teachers, specialists, administration, support and office staff, central office staff, and most importantly students.

While not at school, I typically spend my time traveling with friends, hiking and spending time outdoors with my dog, Royal.

I look forward to continuing serving and supporting our students, families, and staff at JG Hening Elementary. We are ALL IN!
