Portrait of Mr. LynchMr. Jelani Lynch was born and raised in Richmond, VA. After graduating from Richmond Community High School, Mr. Lynch attended the University of Maryland at College Park as a Computer Science major. Realizing that history and education were more of his passion, he transferred to Old Dominion University and earned his degree in History, with a concentration in Secondary Education. In 2004, Mr. Lynch began his career in Henrico County, and spent 13 years at Varina High School. While there, Mr. Lynch became Social Studies Department Leader and co-sponsor of a mentoring organization called Alpha Males.

In 2017, Mr. Lynch decided to teach in the county that he calls home and came to Meadowbrook High School. Currently, Mr. Lynch is the Social Studies Department Leader and the co-sponsor of the W.E.B. DuBois Honor Society. If you ask him why he teaches Social Studies, he will tell you that “for too long, history has been cherry picked, nullified and oftentimes revised. It is my job and that of my colleagues to empower our students to learn about the past- to be empowered and to learn lessons from those who came before us”.
