Dr. Shawn Abel
Principal

Dr. Abel earned his B.S. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and his M.Ed. in Leadership and his Ed.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. This is his 24th year in education and his 18th year at Midlothian. Before becoming a principal, Dr. Abel taught math.

Dr. Stefanie Mooney
Associate Principal

Dr. Mooney grew up outside of Buffalo, NY. She received her BSED and MSED from SUNY Geneseo prior to completing her EDD in Educational Leadership at the University of Rochester. Dr. Mooney taught Math and Special Education in upstate New York prior to beginning her administrative career in Virginia.  At Osborn Park High School in Prince William County, she served as Assistant Principal for five years before moving to Chesterfield County and joining CCPS. As a member of the CCPS team, she has served as an Associate Principal at Matoaca and Midlothian High Schools. She is excited to start her second year as a Midlothian Trojan!

Dr. Denise Bowes
Assistant Principal

Dr. Bowes earned her B.S. in Communication & Sciences from Radford University, and her M.Ed. and Ed.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before becoming a principal, Dr. Bowes taught science and social studies as a collaborative special education teacher.

Assistant Principal

Mr. Lagow earned his B.A. in Political Science from James Madison University and his M.A. in Special Education and M.A. in Administration from the University of Phoenix. This is his 18th year in education and his first at Midlothian.

Mrs. Kismiya Sapp
Assistant Principal

A graduate of Clover Hill High school, Mrs.Sapp earned her B.S in Business Administration from Old Dominion University and is currently pursuing her M.Ed from the University of Virginia. Before becoming an administrator, Mrs.Sapp taught business marketing.

Ms. Shea Collins
Director of Student Activities

Ms. Collins earned her B.S. in Biology, her M.S. in Biology, and her M.Ed. in Administration & Supervision from Virginia State University. This is her 21st year in education and her seventh at Midlothian. Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Collins taught biology and coached basketball. –

Ms. Speller earned her B.A. in English Education and her M.Ed. in Counselor Education from Virginia State University. This is her 17th year in education and her third at Midlothian.

Mr. Mark Spewak
IB Diploma Programme Coordinator

Mr. Spewak earned his B.A. in English and his M.T. in Secondary English from Virginia Commonwealth University. This is his 15th year in education, and he has been at Midlothian all 15 years. In addition to coordinating the IB Program, Mr. Spewak also teaches English.

Mrs. Kaitlyn Stoneburner
Coordinator of Special Education

Ms. Stoneburner earned her B.S. in Human Development from Virginia Tech and her M.A.T. in Special Education as well as her M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University. This is her 7th year in education and her second at Midlothian.

Career Center Coordinator/Testing Coordinator

Mrs. Martin earned her B.A. in Politics and Philosophy from St. Andrews College and her M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from East Carolina University. This is her eighth year in education, and she has been at Midlothian all eight years.
