Mr. Broyles

Mr. Bill Broyles - Principal

Mr. Broyles has been in education for just a short 28 years and has enjoyed opportunities to teach, sponsor clubs, coach, and work with students to achieve every kind of interest and goal. Originally from the Tidewater region, Mr. Broyles grew up on his family farm before serving in the USCG. While serving his country he attended community college and then transferred to Virginia Tech to earn his BS in Education. He further obtained his Master’s in Administration and Supervision from VCU. Mr. Broyles credits much of his desire to work in education to his mom, a 34 year veteran high school chemistry teacher, and his father, with 50+ years as a machinist..both tremendous teachers.

Mr. Broyles enters his 12th year as principal of Monacan and is the proud father of two Chesterfield County Public Schools graduates, one being a 2019 Monacan Chief and he is married to a Class of 86’ graduate! Mr. Broyles enjoys working with students and faculty, water sports of all kinds, mountain biking, and teaching whenever and wherever the opportunity is at!

Mr. Robert Gifford - Associate Principal

Dr. Gifford earned his B.A. in Government from the University of Texas, his B.Ed. from the University of Michigan, his M.T. from Virginia Commonwealth University, and his Master’s endorsement in Administration from Virginia State University. Before becoming a principal, Dr. Gifford taught social studies. Having traveled widely in the United States and teaching English in East Asia, he has a keen interest in culture, diversity, and education.

Ms. Domonique Butler - Assistant Principal

Ms. Butler is entering her nineteenth year of education. Before transitioning into Administration Ms. Butler taught chemistry at Varina High School for 13 years.

She is a graduate of The College of William and Mary. In her free time she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Katie Ricard - Assistant Principal

Katie Ricard began her education career as a history teacher and then Dean of Students at Westwood High School in Westwood, Massachusetts. She then moved to Richmond and has worked at Monacan High School as Assistant Principal since 2015. She attended Boston University for her undergraduate degree and earned her masters in Education Leadership at University of Massachusetts.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two boys and husband, cooking new recipes, and reading a good book. Every Saturday, she goes out to breakfast with her family, which is one of the highlights of her week.

Mr. Wyatt Hicks Dean of Students

Mr. Wyatt Hicks - Dean of Students

Wyatt Hicks began his education career as a special education teacher at Lee-Davis High School in Hanover, Virginia in 2008. He then took a hiatus from education and became a Law Enforcement Officer in Henrico County on the campus of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College from 2011-2014 before returning to education as a special education teacher and senior teacher at Hamilton Holmes Middle School in King William, Virginia from 2014 – 2019. Wyatt has also coached multiple sports at the high school level including Boy’s basketball (Highland Springs High School), Girl’s Softball (Lee-Davis High School), and Football (Lee-Davis High School, King William High School). He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he was a full scholarship student athlete in football.

He is a member of the Highland Springs High School Wall of Fame. He earned his Master’s in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University. In his free time, he enjoys watching everything UNC sports and spending time with his fiancé Rebecca and eight year old daughter Bailey.
