SID Department

The SID program was developed for children with intellectual challenges concentrating on the belief and principle that “all children can learn”. The curriculum focuses on the instruction of age appropriate goals and objectives that are useful and functional in the home, school and community. Students practice skills necessary to live as independently as possible, implemented jointly by teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists and parents. An opportunity for interactions with typically developing peers, in all environments, is of equal importance. To reach these goals the curriculum provides functional skills in natural environments that include daily living, social/communication, self management and community based instruction. Instruction is provided through systematically developed individualized educational plans developed to enhance the strengths of each student.
