Greetings, Providence Elementary Bears! It is my pleasure and great honor to introduce myself as the assistant principal here at Providence Elementary School. I have a passion for high-quality public education and nothing gives me more joy than serving students, staff, and families in my own community. My family and I moved from Hanover County to Chesterfield County in February 2022, which led me to this new role. Like our principal, Dr. Rucker, I was born in Maryland. I’ve also lived in Delaware, Illinois, and North Carolina. Virginia has been my home since 2006 when I graduated from the University of Richmond where I earned a degree in Sociology and Elementary Education. Four years later, I earned my master’s degree in Educational Leadership and used that degree to be an instructional leader as a classroom teacher for eleven years in grades 2, 4, and 5, as well as a K-5 Mathematics Coach for five years. My first year serving you is my seventeenth year as an educator. During my career I have been honored with a few awards including, Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Finalist, Hanover County’s Innovator of the Year, R.E.B. Award of Teaching Excellence Recipient, and Henrico County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year. All of my experiences leading up to this exciting school year have prepared me to bring my enthusiasm and passion for learning to you! I value open-communication, high-quality instruction, and whole-child learning. I am thrilled to become part of your learning community!
