Activities

Don’t underestimate the importance of having fun participating in school activities. Some of the best times and memories students have are the experiences of belonging to a club or participating in an after school activity. Clubs and activities are important to join just for the enjoyment that they will bring to most students, but they also allow the students to more easily make friends because the groups are small and they get to be themselves!

Clubs and activities provide students with many positive experiences that help them to become well-rounded individuals who are ready for college or the workplace. It helps students to become active in their school and to feel a connection the school and to others. It provides a sense of pride and school spirit and it is a positive influence on our youth today.

There is something for everyone! Get involved!

NEHS – National Elementary Honor Society

Students are invited during their 4th grade year based on superior grades during their spring 3rd grade plus fall and spring 4th grade year. Once invited to apply, students complete an application to become a member for their following 5th grade school year.  An induction ceremony is held in the spring each year. NEHS meets monthly during the school day.

There are 4 pillars that NEHS works toward: scholarship, responsibility, service, and leadership.

Ambassadors – 2 students are selected at the beginning of the school year from each grade level to serve as ambassadors. Ambassadors must display the 4 pillars of Salem and be Safe, Trustworthy, Achieving and Responsible. These students welcome new students to Salem and take them on a tour of the building and introduce them to the Salem staff.

WATCH Dogs – This program is up and running! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the office. We would love to see our dads, uncles, grandfathers, and male figures at Salem helping out in the cafeteria, in the classroom, or reading a story!
