It is an honor to serve as the Principal at Salem Church Elementary. Dedicated to the field of education for nearly 15 years, my career has encompassed a variety of experiences to include, most recently, Assistant Principal at Providence Middle School for four years, Exceptional Education Liaison from central office for three years and a special education teacher at AM Davis Elementary and Bettie Weaver Elementary for over five years. I received a Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from Old Dominion University, a Master’s in Special Education from Virginia State University and a Post-Master’s in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. I am currently working towards my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech.
When school is not in session, I enjoy spending time with my family. Some of our favorite hobbies include camping, hanging out by the pool and traveling. My most recent trip combined the three, as my family traveled to Lake Lure, North Carolina for summer vacation. Reading is another way I enjoy spending a little quiet time. My favorite children’s book is The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.
I am excited to be in partnership with the staff, students, parents and community to ensure all students are provided a safe and supportive environment to achieve their best. My personal educational challenge is to foster a learning environment where we provide high-quality instruction and engagement to every child every minute of every day. Together, we will create a year of excellence for our Salem Stars. If there is anything that I can do please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to serving the Salem Church Elementary students, staff, parents and community.
