Week 22: 2.16.21

Posted on

Happy Sunday, Seahawk Families! It’s Principal Knight with your weekly Seahawk Playbook. Welcome to Week 22 of the school year.  I hope you had a great weekend!

Here’s What’s Happening in Seahawk News This Week:

1. This is a friendly reminder that Monday, February 15th is President’s Day.  As such, schools will be closed for staff and students.  Enjoy the three-day weekend!

2.  The School Board decided on Tuesday, February 9th that middle schoolers may resume in-person learning beginning on Tuesday, March 9th.  As such, this is just a friendly reminder that you were sent an email that included the decision you made back in October regarding hybrid learning.  If you would like to stick with that decision, no further action is required of you at this time.  However, if you would like to update your preference or never declared one, please complete this form: SMS Return to Learn Decision to indicate your decision for your Seahawk by no later than Wednesday, February 17th.  Please remember that all decisions are binding for the remainder of this school year.

3.  As middle schools prepare for our students to return to in-person learning on March 9, the Middle School Athletic Council has begun preparations for some athletics and extracurricular activities. In order to be eligible for an athletic activity, students must have a valid VHSL physical, dated after May 1, 2020, and a signed concussion awareness sheet.  Students enrolled in any of the learning options, in-person, virtual, or CCPSOnline, will be eligible to participate. Students must be currently enrolled in at least 5 courses and must have passed at least 5 courses from the first semester to be eligible. More information will be provided closer to when our students return to in-person instruction.

4.  Now that grades for semester 1 have been finalized, we look forward to recognizing our students who have excelled during quarter 2.  We will be mailing home award certificates covering the following areas:

  • All “A” recipients
  • Honor Roll recipients
  • SOAR Award recipients
  • Positive Office Referral recipients

Congratulations to all of our Seahawk achievers and award recipients!

Reminder news:

  • Course Request Reminders

Hello Parents of our 6th and 7th Grade Seahawks! Our counselors have enjoyed visiting all of our 6th and 7th grade Social Studies classes for scheduling lessons.  The scheduling handout and presentation can be found on our new SMS Scheduling Website.  Please find the link here: https://sites.google.com/ccpsnet.net/smsscheduling2020-2021/home.  Students should have already signed up for their courses through StudentVue with their counselor, however you have until February 26 to edit course requests through StudentVue or ParentVue. Please work with your student to view their courses and make any changes that you see fit through ParentVue or StudentVue on the “Course Request” tab.  If you notice any errors or concerns after February 26, you may reach out to your grade level counselor prior to April 1 to request changes.  However please note that no course request changes can be made after April 1, 2021. Counselors are busy working with students who were absent the day of their scheduling lesson, so if that is your student, their counselor should be in touch soon.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Ms. Collins at lindsey_collins@ccpsnet.net for current 6th grade students or Ms. Dabrowski at ErinM_Dabrowski@ccpsnet.net for current 7th grade students.
