In addition to the innovative, engaging, and relevant instruction our students receive in every comprehensive school, Chesterfield County Public Schools offers high school students the opportunity to attend specialty centers and governor’s schools that target their specific academic interests. Students decide in eighth grade whether to apply to a specialty center or governor’s school, so middle school students and parents interested in learning more about these high school opportunities are invited to attend these open houses.
On both Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Chesterfield families of eighth graders had the opportunity to attend the specialty center fairs at the Career and Technical Center at Hull. To help students and their parents learn about the variety of high school options, Chesterfield County Public Schools held two Specialty Center fairs that gave families a chance to visit booths, ask questions, and pick up information. All 13 specialty centers, both governor’s schools, CCPSOnline, CodeRVA, and the school division’s Transportation Department participated.
Throughout October and November, open houses will be offered at each specialty center and at governor’s schools to provide families with in-depth information about each specific site. Specialty center applications, the student events calendar, and more detailed information is available here: https://mychesterfieldschools.com/schools/specialty-centers/.
