The mission of the Tomahawk Creek Middle School Professional School Counseling Program is to empower all students to become productive and contributing members of society. In partnership with families, staff, and the community, our school counselors provide a comprehensive developmental program that addresses academic,career, and personal, social needs of all students.

Mrs. Ayers earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University. She grew up attending CCPS Schools and is excited to return and work for CCPS.

Sharon Porter

Mrs. Porter was born and raised in Westport, Connecticut. She attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. From there she went to Southern Connecticut State University where she completed her Master of Science degree in School Counseling and Psychology. Mrs. Porter was the school counsleing coordinator at Manchester Middle School for fifteen years before coming to Tomahawk Creek when it opened in the fall of 2008.

Katherine Turner

Mrs. Turner was born and raised in Chesterfield, Virginia. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received both her Bachelor of Science degree as well as her Master of Education degree in School Counseling. Mrs. Turner has been at Tomahawk Creek since 2010. She is excited to be working in the county where she was raised and attended school.

Jacqueline Atkins

Mrs. Atkins earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education and her Master of Education in School Counseling from Virginia State University. Her teaching career spans several years. At the high school level she taught tenth-grade English, Creative Writing, and Journalism/Yearbook. Additionally, she taught English, social studies, and served as English Department Chair at Robious Middle School in Chesterfield County. She has been a school counselor at Tomahawk Creek since it opened in 2008.

Mrs. Blackwell earned her Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University. She taught in the area of exceptional education at the elementary, middle and high school levels prior to becoming a school counselor. Mrs. Blackwell has a Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Melinda Bowden

Ms. Lawman earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech. After graduating, she returned to Midlothian, where she grew up. Ms. Lawman received her Master’s degree in school counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ms. Lawman is looking forward to starting her career as a school counselor in Chesterfield County.
