Mrs. Katie Matheny, Principal

Hello, Woolridge Family! I am looking forward to our school-wide theme this year, “We may all be different fish, but at WES we swim together!!” Below is a little bit about me:

I received my Bachelor of Science from Radford University in 2001. My degree is in Elementary Education with concentrations in Special Education and English. In 2007, I received my Master of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Educational Leadership K-12.

I have been fortunate to be a part of Chesterfield County Public Schools as a student, educator and school administrator. I graduated from James River High School in 1997. I started my career at Alberta Smith Elementary School where I taught 3rd grade for 7 years. I then transferred to Clover Hill Elementary School where I taught 3rd, 4th and 1st grades. I moved into school administration in 2012. I have had the opportunity to work at Evergreen Elementary School as the Administrative Assistant and Bettie Weaver Elementary school as their Assistant Principal. I am excited for another great year here at Woolridge as your principal!

My husband, Brad, and I live in the Midlothian area with our two wonderful children, Chase (15) and Sarah (13). We have two sweet Shichon (Shih tzu/Bichon frise mix) named Stella and Luna. I spend most of my free time with my family watching Chase playing soccer, Sarah playing soccer and cheering. I have a passion for running, horses, and going to the beach.

Again, I am looking forward to a great year!

Alicia Broughton

Mrs. Alicia Broughton, Assistant Principal

Hello, Wildcats! I am thrilled for another great school year serving as your assistant principal.

My career in Education began in Hanover County as a fifth grade teacher after earning both a B.A. in Advertising and Sports Management and a Master’s of Science in Teaching degree from the State University of New York at Cortland College. During my tenure as a classroom teacher, I earned my Gifted endorsement from the University of Virginia. I have served as the Gifted Resource Teacher for the past five years at Laurel Meadow Elementary School in Hanover County and most recently completed a Post-Master’s certificate in Administration and Supervision from Longwood University. I achieved my National Board certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 2014. I have experience teaching all grades at the elementary level and have worked with many diverse learners throughout my career.

I am a native of Syracuse, New York and was brought to the Richmond area after my husband Bryan completed four years of active duty at Fort Drum. I currently live in Mechanicsville with our ten year old, Cameron, five-year-old twins, Lathan and Tanner, and chocolate lab, Whitney! We love going to the beach, playing outside, traveling, and reading books together.

I am excited and honored to become part of the Woolridge family. As I embark on this new journey, I am looking forward to the relationships and partnerships I will form with our students, staff, parents and community members. Please feel free to contact me or stop by anytime, my door is always open!
